Histopathology Cassettes and Glass Slides

Overview

Glass SlidesPharmaSeq is actively developing and validating p-Chip®-based system for tagging and tracking glass microscope slides and tissue cassettes used in histopathology laboratories, leveraging funding provided by NIH. One of the significant challenges with histology specimens is the difficulty of labeling and tracking slides and cassettes due to 1) the harsh solvents and dyes used in processing and staining tissue specimens; and 2) the difficulty in reading slides stored in high density. Many laboratories label slides and cassettes by hand, making tracking difficult and a source of misidentification errors when trying to link specific tissues with the proper sample annotations. The small size of the p-Chip allows attachment to the end edge of slides and the front of cassettes and can then be accurately read while in high-density storage, thus eliminating the need for individual removal for identification.
